THE INCESSANT(ASUU) UNIVERSITY LECTURERS STRIKE IN NIGERIA: THE WAY FORWARD

It’s disheartening that the ASUU Strike which started on November 5th, 2018, before the Christmas celebration is still on. Most undergraduates are still at home praying that God should intervene so that the striking Lecturers can go back to the classroom. It’s unfortunate that this Strike is still ongoing regardless of the successful negotions that the Nigerian government and ASUU had recently. I believe that both parties should honour their terms of agreement to call off the strike immediately. Enough is enough for the wise. Both the Nigerian government and ASUU should borrow a leaf from the American President, Mr. Donald Trump who recently reached an agreement with the American Congress to end the unfortunate Government short down in America. I am using this medium to plead with the Federal government of Nigeria to quickly honour their terms of agreement with ASUU in order to end the unfortunate strike. Please your contribution to this discourse is most welcomed. Let’s encourage the Federal government of Nigeria to quickly honour their terms of agreement with ASUU. Thanks.

  1. It’s time for the university lecturers and the federal government to reach an agreement. The students are tired of this sudden halt in their educational pursuits.

  2. The striking lecturers need to reach a standing agreement going past the current impasse that they have reached. Students are sick of staying home not doing anything when they could be in their second semester by now.

  3. To kill any nation, kill their educational system and in no time that nation would be lifeless. That is what I think our leaders are doing to us. The Nigerian leaders need to be more proactive as regards our educational system.
